La Jolla, California 92037 (P.O. Boxes Zip 92038) - San Diego County
ABOUT:
Bird Rock derives its name from the large white rock located yards off the beach in La Jolla and where the seagulls and pelicans often stop to rest. Bird Rock is known as a favorite of surfers that frequent Tourmaline Beach at the most southern end of the Bird Rock neighborhood and adjacent to Pacific Beach. In many ways the community of Bird Rock is often thought of as a small town within the city of La Jolla. Along with being known for its numerous surfing and diving locations, Bird Rock has a thriving commercial zone with quaint shops, sidewalk cafes, and world class restaurants and coffee houses lining La Jolla Boulevard.
The homes that comprise Bird Rock were primarily built before 1950, although there are ongoing remodels and newer homes. In many ways Bird Rock is viewed as an entry level market for La Jolla as the average prices are slightly lower than the northern parts of La Jolla. However, these "starter" homes are still priced anywhere from $600,000 to $3,000,000. Homes on the western side of La Jolla Boulevard tend to be the most expensive as they are closest to the ocean.
This is a great neighborhood for families looking to take advantage of coastal living and La Jolla schools. The community is located approximately 10 minutes from downtown La Jolla and is a quick drive or walk to access the beach.
BIRD ROCK STREET NAMES INCLUDE: Beaumont Avenue, Bellevue Street, Chelsea Avenue, Calumet Avenue, Taft Avenue & more.
